FOSTERING DREAMS GIFT DRIVE

Musson Elementary School will be continuing its annual tradition of collecting holiday gifts for underserved children in our Oakland County community through our Kids4Kids toy donation program. This year, we are thrilled to again partner with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ “Fostering Dreams” program, which serves children in the Greater Oakland County area.

There are approximately 10,171 Michigan youth in foster care, including 470 right here in Oakland County. Musson Elementary School will be providing gifts for approximately 99 families, with the potential of more based on the fulfillment of their gift requests.

DHHS has created an Amazon Wish List, where items requested by foster children and their host families will be available for immediate purchase. These items can be sent directly to the DHHS office (by selecting “Attn: Oakland Licensing”) or to your home if you’d prefer to drop off the gifts at school during the week of collection. All donated gifts will be wrapped and hand-delivered to foster children in the program at their holiday brunch. You can directly access the wish list here: Fostering Dreams MIDHHS Amazon Wish List.

If you have new toys collecting dust in your basement, we’re happy to accept those as well! Just bring them to school during drop-off week, December 1-5.

 SNOW GLOBE RAFFLE

Each gift purchased for the toy drive counts as an entry into our Snow Globe Raffle! Please see the attached snowflake template and check your student’s class folder for details on the raffle and how to enter! The template is also attached to this email if additional snowflakes are needed. Five Snow Globe Raffle winners will be drawn each week, on 11/14, 11/21, 12/1 and 12/5.

Every student at Musson Elementary will have an opportunity to be a part of the magic of this program, even if they aren’t able to contribute a toy. During class, students will be creating cards that will be shared with the foster children and the wonderful DHHS workers during their holiday brunch. We’ve been told that the handmade cards are often the favorite part of the brunch!

Please keep an eye out for upcoming emails, Musson Messenger communications, and MussonPTA.com for more details! If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Taube at WendyTaube@outlook.com
